Who we are

Who We Are

We are a research lab housed in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Texas A&M University. Our team, directed by Dr. Noni Gaylord-Harden, is composed of graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program at Texas A&M University and undergraduate students interested in psychological research. Our research team includes members with expertise in clinical and developmental psychology, quantitative and qualitative research methods, community-based participatory research methods, measure development, and intervention design and implementation.

What we do

WHAT WE DO

Our research team studies traumatic stress and mental health in Black youth and families. We use community-engaged, youth-centered research to 1) identify factors responsible for disparities in community violence exposure and traumatic loss, 2) minimize the impact of violence exposure by identifying strengths and assets of Black youth, families, and communities, and 3) develop and implement culturally and contextually relevant, healing centered interventions for Black youth and families exposed to traumatic stressors.
